Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university located in New Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh in 1920 during the Khilafat and Non-Cooperation Movement in response to Gandhiji's call for swadeshi, it moved to Delhi in 1925 and was made a central university by an act of parliament in 1988.

The university has been accredited with the highest "A++" grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a CGPA of 3.61 out of 4. It has been ranked among the top universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
